Licensee Don Wilson has had a lifetime of sales experience. From selling raffle tickets door to door at seven and newspapers around streets, shops offices and pubs at thirteen, Don sold vacuum cleaners door to door at nineteen. At twenty two Don joined a fabulous Newcastle sales organization, Dickens and Carey as a time payment collector. He progressed through the ranks to sales manager, branch manager and general manager. With business partner Lyall Hamilton, Don moved to Sydney and set up his own direct selling business. At its peak, this business, Australian Linen Pty Ltd employed 120 salaried sales staff. This business was later sold and Don and Lyall started up Active Hire Centers Pty Ltd. In ten years trading this company grew from nothing to a turnover of $6 million PA. At this point it was sold to Brambles for a substantial sum.
After finding he was temperamentally unsuited to retirement, Don pottered around with a mixture of consultancy and a small business to business telemarketing service.
Good friend Rob Wallis suggested to Don that he should be broker to the hire industry. What a good idea.
After a lifetime of selling and business experience, Don is able to advise on the likely selling price of a business and size up the sector the buyer is most likely to come from.
Some of his major skills are ferreting out prospects, persevering till a result is achieved and keeping his clients advised as to what is happening the whole time.
